Robert Jacob "Bob" Switzer

Robert Jacob “Bob” Switzer was born May 21, 1930 on the family farm in Lovewell, Kansas to Jacob Henry and Lara Frankamp Switzer. He passed away in Mankato, Kansas on October 10, 2018 at the Jewell County Hospital.

Bob graduated from Superior High School in 1948 where he would ride his bicycle 4 1/2 miles each way to school. Bob served in the Army from 1951-1953.  In the 60’s he owned a grocery store in Weber. In 1995 he retired from Rural Electric Association. Bob had 75 first cousins of which he was the youngest. He taught Sunday School at First Baptist Mankato for many years. Many people have benefited from Bob’s servant’s heart.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his step-brother Dale Switzer and step-sisters, Alice Weirman and Sopha Moore, his first wife Marianna Fowler Switzer, his second wife Maxine Walker Switzer and a grandson, Lee Adelstone.

He leaves behind his son, David Switzer, of Vail, Arizona, step-daughter, Lori (Jeff) Bradford of Woodstock, Georgia, step-son, Rodney (Charlene) Adelstone of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, sister in law, Lesley (Jim) Hunter of Manhattan, Kansas, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be at10:30 a.m. Friday, October 19, 2018, at First Baptist Church, Mankato, Kansas, with Pastor Brandon Haggins officiating. Interment and graveside services will be Fairview Cemetery, Lovewell, Kansas. Visitation will be held at Melby Mortuary, Mankato, Kansas, on Thursday, October 18, 2018, from 9:00 a.m.  to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wy Cliff Bible Translators in his memory.  Online condolences can be left at www.melbymortuary.com .  Melby Mortuary, Mankato, Kansas, was in charge of arrangements.
