Robert John Kohn

October 25, 1938 — April 8, 2018

Robert John “Bob” Kohn was born October 25, 1938, in Osborne County, Kansas, to the late Anna Marie (Long) and Nicholas Kohn.  He passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018, at Downs, Kansas, at the age of 79 years.

Bob moved many times growing up as a child. He graduated in 1957, from Esbon High School.  Robert was the football Homecoming King.  He and his four brothers made up a basketball team.  Bob loved sports!

After serving his country, Robert married Lucille Wagner of Tipton, Kansas, and persued a vocation in farming.

He was preceeded in death by his parents – Nick and Anna Kohn; and brother – Joe.

Bob is survived by his wife, Lucille of the home; three children – Carla Winkel of Beloit, Kansas, Bradley and wife, Linda Kohn of Ionia, Kansas, and Bonnie Kohn of Mankato, Kansas; two sisters – Margaret Grubaugh of David City, Nebraska and Anna Marie Still of Manhattan, Kansas; three brothers – Bernard Kohn of Halliday, North Dakota, Arthur Kohn of Erie, Colorado, and Eugene Kohn of Hermiston, Oregon; five grandchildren and their children – Camryn Winkel and Cabyn Winkel, Brett Kohn and Tucker, and Lacey and husband, Kris Cady, and Nathan, Olivia, and Jaron; Jeremy and wife, Hilary Bledsoe, and Haylee, Bradley, and McKenzy; and host of other relatives and friends.

Mass to celebrate Robert J. Kohn life was held Friday, April 13, 2018 at 10:30 a.m., at the St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Mankato, Kansas, with Father David Michael officiating.  Ms. Judy Wagner was the organist, Mr. John Flavin was the cantor, and Mr. Mel Brown was the lector.  The hymns for the service were – “Amazing Grace,” “I Am the Bread of Life,” “Be Not Afraid,” “Song of Farewell,” and “How Great Thou Art.”  Casket bearers were – Camryn Winkel, Cabyn Winkel, Jeremy Bledsoe, Brett Kohn, Brian Still, and Darrin Schmitt.  Interment was in the St. Theresa’s Catholic Cemetery, Mankato, Kansas.  Vigil service was Thursday, April 12, 2018, at 7:00 p.m., at the St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Mankato, Kansas.  Memorials in memory of Robert J. Kohn are suggested to St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Mankato.  Online condolences can be left at www.melbymortuary.com .  Melby Mortuary, Mankato, Kansas, was in charge of arrangements.
