Jerry Kendall Vader

September 18, 1934 — August 22, 2017

Jerry Vader, of Superior, Nebraska, died Tuesday August 22, 2017, at Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior NE.

Jerry was born September 18, 1934, to L.J. and Ernestine (Lyons) Vader in Jewell County, Kansas, at the family farm.

Jerry attended and graduated from the Mankato High School in Mankato Kansas, with the Class of 1953.

Jerry joined the Army September 16, 1954.  His tour was in Germany and he served as a Gun Crewman.  He was Honorably Discharged September 15, 1962.  Jerry was married to Peggy Malsbury, on September 30, 1956.

Jerry is preceded in death by his wife - Peggy (Malsbury) Vader; son - Martin Vader; sister -Jaqueline (Vader) Whelchel; brother-in-law - Carroll Hajny;  sister-in-law - Sharon (Malsbury) Gronewoller; and brother-in-law - Conley Malsbury.

Jerry is survived by son - Kendall and wife -Teresa Vader; daughter - Lynette and husband - Brian McCutcheon; 11 grandchildren - Melody and husband - Curt Iliff, Tina and husband - Shannon Sloane, Onna and husband - Bay Robinson, Nicole and husband - Jeremy Guillotte, Wendy Vader, Melanie Morton, Tiffany Morton, Cassie McCutcheon, Briana McCutcheon, Mac McCutcheon, Aaron and wife - Keelee Loeffler, 20 great-grandchildren - Becca, Brock, Trista, Brett, Taitum, Trinity, Taneal, Shelby, Jade, Bella, Zachery, Joshua, Matthew, Tait, Sophia, Silas, Harlan, Serenity, Leland, and Charlee; sisters - Clarabelle Hajny,  and Shirley Steele, brother - Harlow Vader, brother-in-law - Harold Steele, and sister-in-law - Pat Patterson and special friends - Jo Ann Vader, Jason and Melissa and children MaKenna and Brenden Jensen.

Celebration of life service Jerry Kendall Vader will be Monday, August 28, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at the Olive Hill Church in Jewell Co. Kansas, with Pastor Matt Ehlers officiating.  Gloria Schlaefli will provide music for the service and Pastor Thaddeus Hinkle will be the soloist.  The hymns will be “The Old Rugged Cross,” “Forever and Ever Amen,” “Could I Have This Dance, for the Rest of My Life.”  Casket Bearers will be Keith Steele, Gary Steele, Larry Steele, Jeff Vader, Randy Vader, LeRoy Vader, and Mac McCutcheon.  Honorary Casket bearers will be Curtis Ernst, Curt Iliff, and Jerry’s 31 grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery at Mankato.  Visitation is 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday August 27, 2017 with family receiving friends  from 7 pm to 9 pm Sunday evening, at Melby Mortuary in Mankato.  Online condolences can be eft at www.melbymortuary.com .  Melby Mortuary was in charge of service arrangements.  The family suggests memorials to Mankato Senior Center.
