Janis Mary Buster was born to Clayton and Elsie Buster on June 23, 1948, in Great Bend, Kansas. She attended grade school and high school in Larned, Kansas, and graduated in 1966.
Janis was united in marriage to Roger Lindberg in 1967, and to this union three children were born. Sarah, of Sacramento, CA; Carla (Jeffrey), of Folsom, CA; and Paul (Michelle), of Courtland, KS. She has eight cherished grandchildren: Jaelin, Jaselle, Rocco, Eleanor, Spencer, Alivia, Bennett, and Holden.
Janis attended Fort Hays State University briefly, where she met Roger. They moved to Wichita, KS, where she worked at St. Francis Hospital as a nursing assistant. She then attended nursing school at Stormont Vail in Topeka, KS. Later, Roger was stationed in Holton, KS, through the highway patrol, and Janis worked at the Holton Hospital as a registered nurse. In 1979, they moved to Mankato, Kansas. She worked at Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, NE, first as a night nurse on the floor, and later in the cardiac rehabilitation department. She loved being a nurse and her patients loved her too. Janis often supported Roger by bringing meals to the fields during wheat harvest when he farmed with his dad and brother between working as a highway patrolman. She loved being outdoors, a favorite summer activity was spending time at the lake. She attended numerous school functions, such as music recitals and band concerts, volleyball and basketball games, 4-H activities, and the county fair to support her children. In recent years, Janis was involved in community programs such as meals on wheels, the garden club, and the library board. Janis was a member of the Mankato Christian Church, and served countless hours volunteering to help with whatever needed to be done. Probably her favorite activity was not missing out on spending time with family by attending her grandchildren’s many school and extra-curricular functions.
