Debra Marlene (Rightmeier) Mahaffy, age 69, formerly of Mankato, Kansas, went to be with her Lord at the Catholic Care Center in Bel Air, Kansas, surrounded by her family, on June 14, 2022.
She was born on July 29, 1952, at the Beloit (Kansas) Hospital to Glenn and Ina (Love) Rightmeier. She was educated in Mankato, and graduated from Mankato High School in 1971. Following high school, Deb worked at the Jewell County Hospital. On July 13, 1974, she was united in marriage to Delvis “Butch” Mahaffy, in Mankato. Over the years, Deb & Butch took care of 13 foster children in their home.
After Butch was discharged from the military, they enjoyed travelling together. Deb enjoyed drawing, painting and other art.
She is preceded in death by her husband Butch, parents Glenn & Ina, sister Adelia Hedden, mother in law and father in law, Donald and Edith Mahaffy, brother in law Stanley Mahaffy, and a nephew.
She is survived by her brother, Richard Rightmeier of Mankato, brother in law Bill Hedden of Winfield, Kanas, several cousins and many friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 21 st , 2022, from 1pm – 7pm, with family greeting friends from 5pm – 7pm, at Melby Mortuary in Mankato.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, June 22 nd , at 10:00 am, at Melby Mortuary in Mankato, with Pastor Rod Rose officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Mankato.
Memorials are requested to the family, to assist with funeral expenses, and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
