Charles Henry Jacobson

October 3, 1924 — September 21, 2021

Charles H. Jacobson, age 96, passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Society, Superior, NE.  He was born in Formoso, KS to Henry Elza & Harrietta Grace (Kinsey) Jacobson.

He graduated from Montrose High School.  He married Virginia M. Walker on March 16, 1983 and she preceded him in death on December 24, 1994.

He was a lifelong area farmer and resident.  He was affectionally known as ‘The Mayor of Montrose” and was a member of the United Methodist Church.  He served on the soil conservation board and local cemetery board.

He is survived by his daughter, Janie Freeman, Stratton, NE; son, Floyd Adams, Warren, OR; sister, Sarah Ann Newsome, Riverside, CA; 10 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 17 great great grandchildren; 4 great great great grandchildren; 7 nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; his parents, a sister, Mary Smies; brother, John Jacobson & an infant sibling.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Melby Mortuary, Mankato, KS with Rev. Janie Freeman officiating.  Burial will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery, Montrose, Kansas.  Visitation will be from 4-7 pm, Sunday, September 26, 2021 at the mortuary.  The family suggests memorials to D.A.V. or St. Laboria Children’s Home in care of the funeral home.  For online condolences, please visit www.chaputbuoy.com.
