Catherine C. Pierce

Catherine Colette Pierce, 57, the oldest daughter of Keith and Yvonne Terrill, was born March 7, 1953, at Concordia, Ks. She passed away August 28, 2010 at Jewell County Hospital, Mankato, Ks.

Cathy graduated from Burr Oak High School in 1971. She attended Colby Community College. She began raising Amerifax Cattle in Palmer, Ks and continued with ranching after returning to Mankato. She worked several years at the Jewell County Hospital as a Nursing Assistant and Housekeeping.

Cathy was united in marriage to Jeff Pierce April 18, 1988 and to this union they had two sons, Kyle Gene and Keith Brent. Together they raised their family on a farm near Mankato. She loved her husband and sons and devoted her heart to them. Cathy’s love of the farm life and all the livestock and animals that went with it brought her much joy. She enjoyed every aspect of being outside. Cathy did not know a stranger and always had an encouraging word for those she came in contact with. She remained positive throughout her debilitating illness.

Cathy was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Burr Oak, Kansas. April 11, 1954. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mankato. Cathy truly had the Love of God inside her and was not afraid. She knew the Lord had a purpose for her and made the very best of her life.

Survivors include husband Jeff and sons Kyle and Keith of Mankato, Kansas, sisters Becky and Rick Blair, Mankato and Miriam and John Nordstrom, Seabrook, Texas; and many Brother and Sister-In-laws, Nieces, Nephews and Friends.

Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, August 31, 2010, 11am, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mankato, Kansas, with Pastor Katharine Redpath officiating. Honorary casket bearers were: Kyle Pierce, Keith Pierce, Adam Harris, Sara Ledesma, Guthrie Harris, Josh Neilson, Luke Neilson, Christin Stein, and Ashley Elliott. Melby Mortuary was in charge of the service.
