Wayne Kurt Hooton

Wayne Kurt Hooton, 43 of Manhattan passed away Thursday, June 24, 2010. He was born August 13, 1966 in Red Cloud, Nebraska, the son of Ralph W. & Anita Joy Hooton.

He attended Esbon School District and was currently employed as motel manager with Westwood Motel in Manhattan, Kansas. His biggest passion was helping his dad on the family farm. He also enjoyed doing mechanical work and spent many hours helping his brother work on farm equipment. Wayne also spent many hours fishing with family and friends.

Wayne was a member of the Union Chapel Church and was baptized Palm Sunday, 1974 in Mankato, Kansas.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Anita Joy Hooton.

Wayne is survived by his father Ralph W. Hooton of Mankato, Kansas. Two sisters, Sheila and Rick Diamond of Mankato, Kansas, Sandy and Chuck Foster of Dodge City, Kansas; one brother, Harold and Donna Hooton of Ulysses, Kansas; one nephew; three nieces; six great-nephews; and one great niece. He also leaves behind a host of other family and friends.

Services will be held Monday, June 28, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Christian Church in Mankato, Kansas with Pastor Thaddeus Hinkle officiating. Organist was Pat Grout, and the congregation sang,”Amazing Grace” and “I’ll Fly Away.” Inurnment will be (was) after service at Highland Township Cemetery, rural Esbon, Kansas.

Melby Mortuary of Mankato is in charge of the arrangements.
