Nyla Murray Berg was born July 17, 1930, at Mankato, Kansas, to Marcus Vancies and Mina Adelia (Scribner) Murray, and died Thursday, November 12, 2009, at the Republic County Hospital, Belleville, Kansas, at the age of 79 years, 3 months, and 25 days.

Shewas educated in the Mankato Public School, and she married Arthur William Berg on March 12, 1950. To this union one daughter was born, Marla.

Nyla worked for 23 years for the selective service, a short time at the packing plant and a implement dealer in Beloit. She retired form the City of Mankato, and the secretary at the city office in 1999, Nyla was a avid reader, and served on the Mankato City Library Board. She was a member of the birthday club.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Arthur on March 9, 1991. She is survived by her daughter, Marla Berg-Weger, and husband James Weger of St. Louis Missouri; two grandchildren Cameron Weger of Qatar, and Lauren Weger of Glenwood Springs, Colorado; and a sister, Norma Damon of Grand Junction, Colorado, and a host of friends, and other relatives.

Grave side service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, November 14, 2009, at Mount Hope Cemetery, Mankato, Kansas, with Pastor Thaddeus Hinkle officiating. Interment followed after the service. The family extends an invitation to the V.F.W. Hall, Mankato, Kansas, following the graveside service for fellowship. Visitation will be Friday, 1 until 8 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Mortuary. Melby Mortuary, Mankato, Kansas, is in charge of arrangements.
