Vernon D. Terrill

Vernon Terrill, was born May 25, 1920, at the Winslow farm near Otego, Kansas, to Everett and Estel (Winslow) Terrill, and died June 24, 2009, at Mary Lanning Hospital, in Hastings, Nebraska, at the age of 89 years, and 29 days.

He graduated from Burr Oak High School in 1938. After graduating from high school, Vernon farmed for a few years and then served for 4 years in the United States Air Force. After leaving the USAF, he worked for Lockheed Aircraft Corporation, where he later retired in 1977.

Vernon married Wilma Vieda Ross on April 9, 1942. They enjoyed many years of camping in their motor home. Vernon and Wilma lived most of their lives in southern California.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Wilma; sister, Betty Lukenbill; and brothers, Keith and Max Terrill.

Survivors are his brother, Curtis Terrill of Superior, Nebraska; sister, Wanda Myers of Topeka, Kansas; sisters-in-law; brother-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service for Vernon D. Terrill was held Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at 10:30 a.m., at the United Methodist Church, Burr Oak, Kansas, with Pastor Tessa Zehring officiating. Interment was in the Burr Oak Cemetery, Burr Oak, Kansas, beside his wife, Wilma. Military Honors were provided by the United States Air Force Honor Guard, McConnell Air Force Base, Wichita, Kansas. The family suggests memorials to the United Methodist Church, Burr Oak, Kansas. Melby Mortuary, Mankato, Kansas, was in charge of arrangements
