Bertha "Vonnie" Yvonne (Purcell) Imler

Bertha Yvonne (Purcell) Imler was born December 10, 1929 to Burr and Bertha (Miller) Purcell, in Jewell County, Kansas. She died Saturday, April 30, 2016, at Meadowlark Hills, Manhattan, Kansas, at the age of 86 years, 4 months, and 20 days.
Bertha was known as Vonnie. She attended Montrose High School, graduating in 1948. She married Glenn Imler on May 28, 1948, at Belleville, Kansas. To this union three children were born – Rodney, Daniel, and Myrna.
Vonnie loved to garden, and raising livestock, especially the cattle. They raised sheep and in her younger years she enjoyed riding horses. She preferred to be outside, but took time to make no-bake cookies for the family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband – Glenn; her brother – Eugene Purcell; and sister – Shirley Neely.
Vonnie is survived by her children – Rodney and wife, Connie Imler of Glenvil, Nebraska, Daniel and wife, Monte Imler of Formoso, Kansas, and Myrna and husband, Richard Wilson of Westmoreland, Kansas; 15 grandchildren – Chad and wife, Melissa Imler, Matt and wife, Jackie Imler, Christina and husband, Chad Lehrling, Tanner and wife, Melissa Imler, Garrett Imler, Kelli and husband, Jeremy McCallum, Amanda and husband, Roger Haffa, and Jared and wife, Emily Wilson; fifteen great-grandchildren; sister – Norma Imler of Juanita, Nebraska; and sisters-in-law – Phyllis Purcell of Superior, Nebraska and Twila Rothchild of Mankato, Kansas.

A celebration of life service for Bertha Yvonne (Purcell) Imler will be (was) Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., at the Melby Mortuary Chapel, Mankato, Kansas, with Pastor Dennis Beckmann officiating. Interment will be (was) in the Pleasant View Cemetery, rural Formoso, Kansas. Visitation will be (was) Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the Melby Mortuary, Mankato, Kansas, from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family suggests memorials to Alzheimer Foundation, in care of the funeral home.
