Ann (Tyson) Tedrow was born March 25, 1923 to Noel and Ida (Carr) Tyson at Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She passed away February 13, 2016 in Belleville, Kansas.
Ann graduated from Cambridge Nebraska High School in 1941, and entered nursing training at Omaha Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, in August of 1941, graduating as an RN in 1944. Ann joined the Army Nurse Corp in January 1945, serving as a 2nd lieutenant. She was sent overseas to the Philippines and Japan. She was discharged from the service in April 1946.
Ann married Mondo C. Tedrow in 1947, at Imperial, Nebraska. Together they moved to Scandia, Kansas, in 1951. She worked in the nursing profession in Belleville and Mankato, of which 17 years were at the Jewel County Hospital Mankato, Kansas. She was a member of Kansas State Nurses Association (KSNA) during that time. She retired from nursing in 1986. After retiring Ann enjoyed volunteer work, time with children and grandchildren, and traveling.
Ann was a member of the Harmony Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and Sarah Circle. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary 7830 Mankato, Kansas.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers; Ben Tyson, Bill Tyson, and Dan Tyson.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Barbara Trembley of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Betty Jo (Doug) Sederlin of Belleville, Kansas, 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 9:00am to 8:00pm at Melby Mortuary in Mankato, Kansas. Services will be Thursday at 1:00pm at the Harmony Methodist Church in Mankato, Kansas, with Pastor Gerry Sharp officiating. Mrs. Pat Grout was the organist and Mr. Philip Menhusen was the soloist, who sung “How Great Thou Art,” “It Is Well with My Soul,” and “Amazing Grace.” Interment was in the Amana Lutheran Cemetery, Scandia, Kansas, beside her husband. Memorials to Jewel County Hospital or Harmony United Methodist Church. Melby Mortuary of Mankato, Kansas was in charge of arrangements. Online condolences can be left at www.melbymortuary.com.
