Melodee Ann Thompson

Melodee Ann Thompson was born August 12, 1957, to Charles “Bud” and Ilene (VanMeter) Thompson. She left this life on March 10, 2009, at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend, Kansas, at the age of 51 years, 6 months, and 28 days.

Melodee was a graduate of Mankato High School in the class of 1975. She went on to become a CNA and a CMA at the Jewell County Hospital. Melodee worked there for many years and loved her patients.

Melodee is survived by five children: sons – Shane and wife Jami Dewey of Kearney, Nebraska, Kenny Grabast and Cole Grabast of Great Bend, Kansas; daughters- Raven and husband, Aaron Genereux of Wichita, Kansas, and Hope Grabast of Great Bend, Kansas; grandchildren – Quinn, Lyric, Maeson, Aubree, and Anders Dewey, Owen and Isaac Genereux, Alex and Olivia Grabast, and Brodie Grabast-Buckley; sister Francia Sparzynski of Phoenix, Arizona; two brothers – John Thompson of Sedalia, Missouri, and Charles “Chuck” Thompson.

She was loved beyond words and will be missed greatly.

A celebration of the life of Melodee Ann Thompson was held Friday, March 13, 2009, at 10:00 a.m., at the Melby Mortuary Chapel, Mankato, Kansas, with Pastor Thaddeus Hinkle officiating. Ruth Clegg was the organist, and Pastor Thaddeus Hinkle was the soloist. Casket bearers were: Aaron Genereux, Shane Dewey, Kenny Grabast, Cole Grabast, Pam Dunstan, and Karen Williams. Interment was in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Mankato, Kansas. The family suggests memorials in honor of Melodee Thompson in care of the mortuary. Melby Mortuary, Mankato, Kansas, was in charge of arrangements.
