Carroll E. Thronson

Carroll Eugene Thronson was born to John and Myrna (Gleason) Thronson, on October 23, 1934, on a farm in rural Jewell County, Kansas, and died August 12, 2015 at this rural home near Mankato, Kansas, at the age of 80 years, 9 months and 19 days.
Carroll was raised in rural Jewell County and attended country grades school graduating from Mankato High School.
Carroll joined the Army, and was stationed in Germany. He returned to Jewell County and took up his passion of raising livestock. He preferred cattle and horses in farming to row corps. Row crops were for feed. He married Edna Irene McCleery on February 25, 1961, at the Christian Church in Esbon, Kansas. To this union four children were born – Carla, Douglas, Dwight, and David.
Carroll was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers – Dale and Vernon; two nephews – Roland and John Thronson.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years- Edna of the home; daughter – Carla (Thronson) Ost of Superior, Nebraska; three sons – Douglas of Wichita, Kansas, Dwight and wife, Kristin, and David, all of rural Mankato, Kansas; 4 grandchildren – Ranae and husband, Danny Fuller, Eric Ost, Katie Thronson, and Jordan Thronson; two great-grandchildren – Danny Fuller and Emily Fuller; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A celebration of Carroll’s life will be Saturday, August 22, 2015, at 3:00 p.m., at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mankato, Kansas, with Pastor Dennis Beckmann officiating. Organist will be Mrs. Kathy Beckmann, with congregational hymns. Military honors were presented by the United States Army Honor Guard from Fort Riley, Kansas. Inurnment service will be held at a later time in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Mankato, Kansas. The family suggests memorials to Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mankato or Solomon Valley Hospice, Beloit, Kansas. Melby Mortuary, Mankato, Kansas, was in charge of arrangements.
