Dale E Rothchild

November 1, 1925 — January 24, 2009

Dale Eugene Rothchild was born on November 1, 1925, in the family home, rural Montrose, Kansas, to Emmett and Olive Ruth (Stansbury) Rothchild, and died January 24, 2009, at his home in Mankato, Kansas, at the age of 83 years, 2 months, and 23 days after a long illness.

Dale attended grades 1st thru 8th at the Rose Hill School, two years high school at Webber and graduated from Lovewell High School in 1943. He was drafted into the Army in April of 1944, and served with the 70th Reconnaissance Troop, 70th Infantry Division in Germany and received his Honorable Discharge June 1, 1946. When he came back home he went into farming and on May 29, 1949, Dale married Twila Imler at the Reverend J.A. Stansbury home in rural North Branch, Kansas To this union three children were born- Michael Dale, Ronald Keith, and Mary Elizabeth.

He continued farming and with a growing family started working at the Ideal Cement Plant in April of 1952, working there until he retired in May of 1984, after 32 years of service.

Dale continued farming after retirement until 1991. Then he and Twila were able to enjoy their retirement by taking bus tours all over the United States and attending the reunions with his army group.

He was a member of the V.F.W. Post Not. 3355, Superior, Nebraska, Montrose United Methodist Church, Gideons International, and the 70th Recon Group.

Dale was proceeded in death by his parents: two brothers- Norman and Delbert; and five sisters- Gwen, Doris, Naomi, and two infants.

He is survived by his wife, Twila of 59 years; sons, Michael and companion Martha Dittmer of Woodbine, Kansas, and Ronald and wife, Anna of Beloit, Kansas; daughter, Mary Rothchild and companion Scott Israel of Mankato, Kansas; nine grandchildren- Brent Rothchild, Regina Phillips, Marcus Rothchild, Darla Rothchild, Erin Rothchild, Monica Carr, Tyronn Rothchild, Collin Rothchild, and Natasha Davis; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Gaylord and wife, Iva Rothchild of Mankato, Kansas; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life service was held Tuesday, January 27, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., at the Montrose United Methodist Church, rural Mankato, Kansas, with Pastor Jim Rice officiating. Music was provided by Rosalee Menhusen, pianist, and Phillip Menhusen, soloist, who sang, “Old Rugged Cross” and “In The Garden.” Casket bearers were: Brent Rothchild, Tyronn Rothchild, Collin Rothchild, Marcus Rothchild, LeRoy Davis, and Matthew Carr. Flowers bearers were: Regina Phillips, Darla Rothchild, Monica Carr, Erin Rothchild, Natasha Davis, and ten great-grandchildren. Interment was in the Webber Cemetery, Webber, Kansas, with military honors presented by United States Army Honor Guard, Ft. Riley, Kansas, and V.F.W., Post No. 3355, Superior, Nebraska. The family suggests memorials to: Gideons International, Montrose United Methodist Church, or American Cancer Society. Melby Mortuary, Mankato, Kansas, was in charge of arrangements.
