Delvis D. “Butch” Mahaffy, of Derby, Kansas obituary

Butch Mahaffy, age 65, formerly of Mankato, Kansas, died February 19, 2015, at the Veteran’s Hospital Hospice Center, Wichita, Kansas. Butch was born June 3, 1949, at Mankato, Kansas, to Donald and Edith Mahaffy.
He served 4 years in the United States Army and 4 years in the Navy.
On July 13, 1974, Butch was united in marriage to Debra Rightmeier at Mankato, Kansas. Butch and Debra took care of 13 foster children in their home.
He was an employee for 9 years at Lowe’s. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and time with family and friends.
Butch was preceded in death by: his parents Donald and Edith; and one brother, Stanley.
He is survived by: his wife- Debra; and two sisters-
A celebration of life service for Delvis D. “Butch” Mahaffy were held Tuesday. February 24, 2015, at 10:00 a.m., at the Melby Mortuary, Mankato, Kansas, with Pastor Ben Ray officiating. Interment followed in Mount Hope Cemetery, Mankato. Memorials may be made to Delvis D. “Butch” Mahaffy Memorial Fund, in care of the mortuary .Visitation will be (was) .
