Donna M Meier

Donna Marie (Briggs) Meier passed away at the age of 70 on Saturday, January 3, 2015, in her home after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loved-ones. She was born July 12, 1944, in Mankato, Kansas, to Floyd M. and Anna M. (Heater) Briggs. She married LeRoy Meier on December 8, 1963.

Donna was preceded in death by: her parents; sister - Wanda Jean Mauk; half-brothers – John Briggs and Marvin Briggs; and half-sisters – Ivalee Bush, Juanita Wince, and Mary Ellen Sykes.

Survivors include: husband - LeRoy Meier of the home; sons – Monty and wife, Jennifer
Briggs of Salina, Kansas, Roger and wife, Mary Ann Meier, and Shannon and wife, Joni Meier; daughters – Lori and husband, Stanley St. John, and Angela, and husband, Brian Murray, all of Mankato, Kansas; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister – Shirley, and husband, Chuck Williamson, Beloit, Kansas; brother – John Everett and wife, Phyllis Briggs, Mankato; half-sister Lenora Jaske, Blackwell, Oklahoma; half-brothers – George, and wife, Jessie Briggs of California, and Robert and wife, Mary Neeper of Arizona.

Visitation for Donna Marie Briggs will be Monday 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, January 6, 2015, 9:00 – 9:00 p.m.; family will be present between 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be (were) Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at the Mankato Lutheran Church, Mankato, KS at 10:30 a.m., with Pastor Dennis Beckmann officiating. Mrs. Dennis Beckmann was the organist. Congregational hymns will be (were): “Amazing Grace” and “Old Rugged Cross.” Other songs were: “Dancing in the Sky,” “ Candle in the Sky,” and “Seven Spanish Angels.” Casket bearers will be (were): Robert Wunderle, Colin Briggs, Jeramey St. John, Stanley St. John, Jr., Allen “Butch” Meier, and John Briggs, Jr. Honorary casket bearers will be (were): Mike Penn, Terry Kruse, Dustin St. John, Terry Penn, Martin Neeper, and David Kruse. Interment was in Mount Hope Cemetery, Mankato. Memorials may be made to Jewell County EMS. Melby Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
