Marjorie Viola (Jones) David

Marjorie Viola (Jones) David, was born in Home City, Kansas, August 15, 1921, the daughter of Clyde and Elizabeth (Wolf) Jones, and passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014, at the Family Health and Rehabilitation Center, Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 92 years, 8 months, and 7 days.

After spending her first ten years in Home City, her family moved to Lenora, Kansas, where she graduated from Lenora High School.

Marjorie married Howard David, on October 28, 1939. Howard preceded her in death on December 31, 1999. She is survived by sons – Larry and wife, Janice David of Wichita, Kansas, Jerry and wife, Joyce David of Wichita, Kansas, Gary and wife, Lisa David of Andover, Kansas; daughter- Kathie and husband, Vance Tyrell of Wichita, Kansas; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Marjorie is also survived by two sisters – Mary Lou Hanley of Renton, Washington and Dorothy and husband, Bill Bedle, Chester, Connecticut. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter –Linda Lou, and a brother – Robert Jones.

A celebration of life service for Marjorie David will be (was) held May 14, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the Melby Mortuary Chapel, Mankato, Kansas, with Pastor Gerry Sharp officiating. Music was performed by Mrs. Pat Grout, organist, and Mrs. Elaine Smith, soloist, who will sing (sang) “Sweet Hour of Prayer.” Casket bearers will be (were) Bruce David, Brad David, Brian David, Allie David, Corey Tyrell, and Bree David. Honorary casket bearers will be (were): Trapper Tyrell, Micah Hudson, Randi Herrman and Alan Durham. Interment followed the service in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Mankato, Kansas, beside her late husband, Howard. The family suggests memorials to the Harmony United Methodist Church, in care of the Melby Mortuary, PO Box 384, Mankato, Kansas 66956-0384. On-line condolences maybe left at [email protected] .
