Thomas (Tom) Ward West

April 29, 1938 — June 11, 2008

Thomas Ward West was born April 29, 1938, to Kenneth Victor and Gwen (Topsy) Maxine
(Bottorf) West, close to Montrose, Kansas, and died June 11, 2008, after a battle with
cancer at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska, at
the age of 70 years old.

Tom, as his friends and family called him, was a graduate of Monrovia
High School in Monrovia, California in 1956. He served in the United
States Army in the Military Police from 1956 to 1960.

Tom had a smile that was key to him. He was also very proud and would not
accept help, even if help would make his life easier due to his disability.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

He is survived by his three children, two sons, Ken and wife Tina West of
LaCygne, Kansas, and Mike West of Riverside, California; daughter, Tracie and husband Dave
Davis of Riverside, California, three sisters- Darlyne and husband, Jimmy Ramos of Lake Havasu,
Arizona, Jeannie Macauley of Lake Havasu, Arizona, and Carol and husband, Gerald
Kennedy of Upland, California; a brother, Dean and wife, Trudy West of Mission Viejo, California;
an aunt, Ila Phae (Bottorf) and husband, Emil Grubisa of Washington; four grandchildren;
eleven great-grandchildren; six nieces; eight nephews, and a host of
extended family and friends.

Tom moved back to Montrose to be close to his parents.

A celebration of Thomas W. (Tom) West's life will be Saturday, June 28,
2008, at the Montrose United Methodist Church, rural Mankato, Kansas, at
11:00 a.m., with Pastor Jim Rice officiating. Mrs. Pat Wright, is the
pianist. Inurnment service will follow lunch at Pleasant View Cemetery,
rural Mankato, Kansas, beside his parents & one brother. The family request memorial
donations to the Montrose United Methodist Church, in care of the Melby
Mortuary, P.O Box 384, Mankato, Kansas 66956-0384. Melby Mortuary,
Mankato, Kansas, was in charge of arrangements.
