Gay Maureen (Westbrook) Anderson

Gay Maureen (Westbrook) Anderson, 77, of Mankato, Kansas, was born on July 20, 1936, in McPherson to Ben and Thelma (Merrick) Westbrook, and went to be with the Lord on August 19, 2013, at the Jewell County Hospital, Mankato, Kansas.
Gay graduated from Canton High School and Bethany College with degree in Bachelor of Arts in 1958. She was united in marriage to Don W. Anderson on August 18, 1957, at the United Methodist Church, in Canton. To this union three children were born – K.B., Tracey, and Tim.
Gay taught art in Concordia, Montrose, and Mankato, Kansas. After she and Don retired, they loved to travel and visit their grandchildren. Gay was a member of the North Central Kansas Art Association (NCKAA), Prairie Winds Gallery in Grand Island, Nebraska, and on the board for Autumn Art Workshops in Halsey, Nebraska.
Gay was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, of 56 years, Don of the home; her children – K.B. and friend Brenda Martin Zimmer of Arkansas City, Kansas, Tracey and husband, John Knack of Pleasant View, Tennessee, and Tim Anderson of Pittsburg, Kansas; grandchildren – Jennifer Anderson, Lance Anderson, Ben Knack, Anna Knack, Kenzia Knack; great-granddaughter – Jordyn; sister, Benna and husband, Howard Wasson of Maple Hill, Kansas; special daughter-in-law – Amanda Anderson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services for Gay M. (Westbrook) Anderson will be Saturday, August 24, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., at the Harmony United Methodist Church, Mankato, Kansas, with Pastor Gerry Sharp officiating. Music was with Mrs. Pat Grout, organist, and Mrs. Pat Zadina, soloist. The second memorial service will be Sunday, August 25, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at the Olson’s Funeral Home Chapel, Canton, Kansas. Inurnment will follow in the Canton Cemetery, beside Gay’s parents. The family suggests memorial to: Harmony United Methodist Church – Mankato, United Methodist Church – Canton, or Jewell County Hospital Long-term Care – Mankato.
