Patricia B Christie

Patricia B. Christie, 75, the youngest daughter of John and Edith (Hose) Blankenship went to be with her heavenly father on August 14, 2013, at the Jewell County Hospital, Mankato, Kansas.

She was born March 16, 1938, in Burbank, California. On December 8, 1954, in Las Vegas, Nevada, Pat married Norman B. Christie, Jr. Three children were born to this union. She spent the majority of her life in Osborne, Kansas, moving to Mankato, Kansas, in 2003.

Pat was a member of the Osborne Christian Church, where she taught Sunday school and served on various committees. She was a charter member of the Lydia Group and served as lesson leader for fifteen years. She enjoyed working with children and doing volunteer work. She was coordinator for the Market Place for many years. Pat loved doing crafts and her passion was quilt making. Music was another one of Pat’s passions. She was a member of the North Central Kansas Christian Choir for 29 years, participated in the Downs Community Chorus, and sang with the chancel choir of the Harmony United Methodist Church of Mankato.

She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her son – Stephen and wife, Phyllis Christie of Mankato, Kansas; daughters – Tina and husband, Steve Blankenship of Mesa, Arizona and Virginia Hahn of Mankato, Kansas; one sister – Brenda Schatz of Puyallup, Washington; also ten grandchildren – Jeremey and wife Ann Wilcoxson, Sara and husband Jamey Fuller, Patrick Christie, Lucinda and husband Chris Markham, Jarrett Christie, and Miranda Hahn; four step-grandchildren – Melissa and husband, Mark Zawadski, Sarah and husband Anthony Alexander, Steven and wife, Liz Blankenship and Angie and husband Brian Nohren; three great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, husband – Norman in 2002; and sister – Diane Pegg in 2009.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a memorial prayer and hymn service at 2:30 p.m. The service will be conducted by Pastor Gerry Sharp, with music by the Harmony UM Church chancel choir.

The Service of Remembrance will be on Monday, August 19, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., at the United Christian Church, 214 North Second Street, Osborne, Kansas. Officiating will be Pastors Dennis Davenport and Gerry Sharp, with music by member of the North Central Kansas Christian Choir. Cremation has taken place with the final resting place in the Osborne Cemetery, Osborne, Kansas.

Memorials may be given to the Osborne Carnegie Research Library, organ fund of Harmony United Methodist Church, Mankato or the Ute Theatre of Mankato. Online condolences may be left at www.melbymortuary.com.
