Lillian Eleanor Wolfe

September 21, 1917 — March 26, 2013

Lillian Eleanor Wolfe was born September 21, 1917, on a farm near Cuba, Kansas, to Joseph W. and Frances (Lojka) Houdek, and she went home to be with her heavenly father on March 26, 2013, at the Mount Joseph Senior Village, Concordia, Kansas, at the age of 95 years, 6 months, and 5 days.

Lillian attended school at Kunkel District 73 and Cuba High School. She married Anton Wolfe on June 16, 1947, at Concordia, Kansas. To this union one daughter was born, Kayleen. Lillian lived in Republic County for 29 years, Ottawa County for 19 years, and moved to Mankato in 1966. After a fall at Pine Haven, Lillian moved to Concordia in 2003.

She was a housewife, but also a farmer’s wife. She raised chickens, milked cows, raised a garden and canned. The pastimes that she enjoyed, were gardening, and baking. After moving to Pine Haven in Mankato, she became active in social activities that they had. She was a member of the Western Fraternal Life Association, Z.C.B.J. and received her 50 year pin in 1997.

Lillian was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She took up driving in her mid-sixties, after Anton's health failed and he could no longer drive.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; husband - Anton “Andy;” four sisters – Emily Plucar, Frances Plucar, Ella Kasha, and Mildred Klima; and brother – Charles Houdek.

She is survived by her loving daughter – Kayleen and husband, Dennis Avers of Hastings, Nebraska; grandson – Brian and wife, Taren Avers; two grandchildren – Samuel and Juliet; a host of other relatives and friends.

Lillian E. Wolfe's life was celebrated at a graveside service at the Kopsa Cemetery, Cuba, Kansas, with Pastor Thaddeus Hinkle officiating. Pastor Thaddeus Hinkle also sang, “How Great Thou Art.” Family and friends served as casket bearers. Interment followed the service in the cemetery. The family suggests memorials to Mount Joseph Senior Village, in care of the mortuary. Melby Mortuary, Mankato, Kansas, was in charge of arrangements.
