Lorna Mae Mcmillan

July 6, 1938 — January 25, 2013

Lorna Mae McMillan was born July 6, 1938, on a farm near Burr Oak, Kansas, to Ivan and Helen (Davis) McMillan. Lorna departed this life January 25, 2013, at her home in Beloit, Kansas.

Lorna is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Merle McMillan; and a sister, Audrey Hamilton.

Although blind and handicapped at birth, she attended the School for the Blind in Kansas City. She worked many years in Topeka for the State Facility for the Blind. Lorna was a very conscientious and devoted worker. She amazed everyone with her clear memory of events and dates. She was an avid fan of Kansas University and the Kansas City Royals, listening to their games on her companion, her radio.

In May of 2000, Lorna moved to Beloit, Kansas, and began working for OCCK, Inc. Lorna selected Beloit, not only for the services provided but also to be much closer to her sister, Audrey. Lorna made her home with OCCK and worked there as long as her health permitted. Lorna loved bowling, board games, music, and traveling with her sister to see her brother, Eldon and family in Payette, Idaho. She was also active in the Burr Oak Christian Church and a Christian Church in Topeka when her health permitted.

Lorna is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Eldon and Shirley McMillan of Payette, Idaho; her brother–in-law, Donald Hamilton of Mankato, Kansas; and many relatives. We shall miss her warmth and love.
