Jerry D. "Zach" Zachary

Jerry Dan Zachary was born to Kenneth Lee and Betty Darlene (Sweet) Zachary at Beloit, Kansas, on May 14, 1951, and died suddenly Thursday, May 24, 2012, at his home in Mankato, Kansas, at the age of 61 years, and 10 days.

Zach lived on a dairy farm south of Scottsville, Kansas. He attended grade school in Scottsville, and high school in Beloit, Kansas. Zach attended North Central Kansas Technical College, at Beloit and studied farm mechanics. Zach knew that his calling was in antiques, collectibles and knives. He owned and operated several Antique Stores over the years, before health reasons made him close his last store in Mankato several years ago. The antique business allowed Zach to visit and tell stories, and make friends from complete strangers.

Zach was united in marriage to Linda Martin. This marriage later ended in divorce.

Zach was preceded in death by his parents. His is survived by his brothers, Troy and wife, Roma Zachary, and Rex and wife, Sharon Zachary all of Salina, Kansas, and Rocky and wife, Peggy Zachary of Concordia, Kansas; sister April Marie Zachary of Salina, Kansas; niece, LeeAnn and family; two nephews, Samuel and Daniel and their families; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Jerry D. “Zach” Zachary was celebrated in a memorial service at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, June 3, 2012, at the Melby Mortuary Chapel, Mankato, Kansas, with the Cowboy Pastor Bob Cook of Concordia, Kansas. The family will inter the cremains at a later date at the Pleasant View Cemetery, Solomon Valley, Kansas. The family suggests memorials in honor of Jerry D. “Zach” Zachary to be given in care of the Melby Mortuary, Mankato, Kansas.
