Gretchen grew up in Capitol Hill with a loving family. She attended Lee Grade School,
Capitol Hill Junior High and graduated from Capitol Hill High School with the Class of
1947. She worked at Oklahoma Farm Bureau Insurance Company until she moved to
California in 1952. In Oakland, California, she worked for Kaiser Engineers, Kaiser
Industries and Kaiser Aetna, for a total of 23 years.

Gretchen met Lyle Blair in Oakland in. 1954 and they were married on June 30, 1956.
They resided in California until 1975. Leaving family and many friends and lovely golf
courses, they moved to Mankato, Kansas, Lyle's hometown. Gretchen worked part-time
at the First National Bank in Mankato until she and Lyle moved to Roswell, New Mexico,
in May, 1985. Gretchen moved back to Oklahoma City after Lyle's death in 1994. She
returned to enjoy family, friends, and places of her youth.

Her favorite things were Reunions. She attended and helped with some of the fun Blair
Family Reunions, and also the CHHS Class of '47 Reunions. She especially enjoyed
being secretary for the Capitol Hill High School Fabulous Forties Reunions. Another
favorite thing was monthly lunch with the group of "CHHS Women Who Lunch." Some
were friends since Lee School.

Her life changed dramatically in 2005 when she again met Roy Hughes. She had been
his secretary when he was an executive of Kaiser Industries. Gretchen and Roy were
married February 23, 2006 at Niagara Falls, Canada, and spent their Honeymoon cruising
the Greek Isles. She leaves wonderful memories during their 5 years together. In her
words, he was "My Guy." "He knows I'm not perfect, but he treats me like I am."

As a young girl, Gretchen became a Christian and was a member of Capitol Hill Baptist
Church. Gretchen and Roy now attend Quail Springs Baptist Church.
