Gerald L. Stedman

Gerald LeRoy Stedman, Mankato, Kansas, was born on December 28, 1918, in Ionia, Kansas, to Lawrence and Alice (Lansden) Stedman. He passed away on February 11, 2012, at the Jewell County Hospital, Mankato, Kansas, after a short illness, at the age of 93 years.

Gerald and Louise lived most of there life in Denver, Colorado. Gerald was a shoe repairman, but a lot of his business was helping people with physical handicaps to be able to walk better with his talents. After retirement, they moved to Mankato, Kansas, to be close to their family home and old friends.

Gerald was preceded in death by his son, Steven Lee; his parents; and three brothers. He is survived by his wife of seventy years, Anna Louise; son, Douglas and wife, Vickie Stedman; daughter, Elaine and husband, Jim Stevens; four grandchildren – Scott, Heather, Jennifer, and Jeffrey; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family requested cremation, and graveside services will be held at a later date at Fairmount Cemetery, Denver, Colorado. Melby Mortuary, Mankato, Kansas, was in charge of local arrangements. Condolences may be left online at www.melbymortuary.com.
