Edna Luellen (Rock) Cleveland

July 9, 1916 — December 18, 2011

Edna Luellen (Rock) Cleveland, the daughter of Clair and Rosetta (Hopp) Rock, was born on a farm near Portis, Kansas, on Sunday, July 9, 1916, and went to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 18, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Center, Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 95 years, 5 months and 9 days.

Edna was united in marriage to Randall W. Cleveland, on December 26, 1936. They were blessed with three children – Conley, Marlene, and Rick. They farmed in the Lovewell area for a number of years, were Reservoir Superintendent at Lovewell Dam and returned to Superior in 2001.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Randall, on September 5, 2006; a son, Conley; a sister, Dorothy (Rock) Fuller; and brother, Henry Rock.

She is survived by her daughter – Lynda M. and husband, Dale Eisenhauer, Lovewell Lake; son – Rick and wife, Jacalyn Cleveland, Courtland, Kansas; daughter-in-law, Patricia Cleveland, Lovewell Lake; seven grandchildren – Scott, Kolene, Terry, Crystal, Ashley, Brooklyn, and Landen; one step-granddaughter – Debbie; great-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Edna was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She devoted her life to family and friends. She was an accomplished equestrian and helped show their horses at many state fairs and local shows. Edna enjoyed her garden, flowers, canning, cooking, raising beagles, writing poems and making beautiful quilts, many of which she hand painted.

A celebration of life service will be (was) held Friday, December 23, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., at the Melby Mortuary Chapel, Mankato, Kansas, with Chaplin Melissa Wilt officiating. Music will be (was) performed by Greg and Donna Diamond. They will sing (sang) “I’ll Fly Away”, “How Great Thou Art”, and “Red River Valley”. Casket bearers will be (were) Terry Eisenhauer, Scott Cleveland, Landen Cleveland, Tony Topf, David Douglas, Steven Murnahan, and Rick Snowden. Honorary casket bearers will be (were) T. J. Topf, Jake Eisenhauer, Max Douglas, Haden Murnahan, J.D. Pickel, and Darrell Thompson. Interment will be (was) in the Scandinavian Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Lovewell State Park, Webber, Kansas, beside her husband. The family suggests memorials to Scandinavian Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery for perpetual care in care of the Mortuary. Melby Mortuary, Mankato, Kansas, is (was) in charge of service arrangements.
