Fern F. Pair

Fern Florine (Reed) Pair was born to Willard Richard and Millie (Freestead) Reed on February 13, 1924, on the family farm north of Randall, Kansas. She was the sixth of eleven children born to this union. Fern departed this life on Monday, July 2, 2007, at the Mitchell County Hospital, Long-term Care, at the age of 83 years, 4 Months, and 19 days.

Fern attended school at Custer Grade School and Burr Oak High School. She was united in marriage to Warren Keith Pair on January 5th, 1946, at the Brethren Parsonage, Burr Oak, Kansas, by Reverend Oliver Davison. To this union two sons were born, Roger Stewart and Douglas Alan.

Fern belonged to the First Baptist Church, Mankato, Kansas.

She loved the farm, her family and friends. She worked on the farm raising chickens, pigs, cattle, and crops. She helped with every aspect of the farm, prepared meals during harvest, helped at the church, and spent time with her family.

Fern was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Warren Keith on February 21, 1998; four brothers, Francis Lavern Reed, Adna Wilson Reed, Floyd Dale AJack@ Reed, Claude AJunior@ Reed, and one sister, Daisy Mabel (Reed) Jensen.

She is survived by her two sons- Roger and wife Paula Pair, of Juniata, Nebraska, and Douglas and wife, Polly Anna Pair, of Burr Oak, Kansas; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren - Bridget (Pair) and Jeff Soucek and Cierra Soucek of Hastings, Nebraska, Kathy (Pair) and Clay Fisher and Garrett Fisher of Clay Center, Nebraska, Brian and Misty Pair and Faith and Dylan Pair of Harvard, Nebraska, Brandy (Pair) Weber and Jason Weber of Seneca, Kansas, and Jayme Pair of Manhattan, Kansas; two sisters, Aletha Marie Logan of Mankato, Kansas, Barbara White of Boulder, Colorado; three brothers, Donald Reed, Abilene, Kansas, Robert Reed of Kingman, Arizona, and Howard Reed of RoseHill, Kansas; many Friends; and a host of other relatives.

Fern was a loving mother, wife, grandparent, and friend. She was very proud of her family and loved to tell of them.

A celebration of the life of Fern F. Pail was held Friday, July 6, 2007, at the First Baptist Church, Mankato, Kansas, with Pastor Neolin Taylor officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Jan Thornton, pianist, and Wayne Fogo, soloist. Music was AHow Great Thou Art@ and AAmazing Grace.@ The congregation sang AWhen We All Get To Heaven.@ Casket bearers were: William (Bill) Logan, Lloyd Johnson, Sr. Lloyd Johnson, Jr., David Jensen, Doyle Reed, and Curtis Ernst. Interment was in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Mankato, Kansas. The family suggests memorials to the charity of the donors choice. Melby Mortuary, Mankato, Kansas, was in charge of arrangements.
