Jonathan P. Havens was born October 14, 1962, at El Centro, California, to Peter Garcia, Jr. and Gail (Fowlkes) Havens, and died May 17, 2007, at his home in Burr Oak, Kansas, at the age of 44 years, 7 months, and 3 days.

Jon lived in El Centro, California, and graduated from High School. While living in California, he enjoyed the beach life. He was a colorful person, who enjoyed watching people on and around the beach. Over the years he became a good story teller, truthful or fictional it did not matter, they were interesting to listen to. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed sports, especially baseball.

Jon lived in Hartford, Connecticut, before moving to Burr Oak, Kansas.

Jon also loved his brother and daughter. He was a free spirit who was easy to love and not love.

Jonathan is survived by his daughter, Janelle Havens, of San Diego, California; brother, Larry Havens, of Burr Oak, Kansas, sister, Shannan Havens, of San Diego, California; mother, Gail Havens, of Burr Oak, Kansas, step-father, Wallace Havens of Camerral, California, and father, Peter Garcia, Jr., of Troutville, Virginia; step-grandparents, Bob and Dorothy Havens of El Centro, California; and a host of other friends and relatives.

Memorial services for Jonathan Havens Goodman were held Friday, May 25, 2007, at 11:00 p.m., at the Christian Church, Burr Oak, Kansas, with Mr. Steven Melby officiating. Music was provided by Wanda Fraiser, organist, and Glennys Barnes, song leader. Hymns were: “When You Are Happy and You Know It” and “How Great Thou Art”..
