Loretta Marie (Reinert) Wagner, of Mankato, Kansas, was born October 10, 1920, to Peter Anton and Barbara (Boden) Reinert on a farm southwest of Tipton, Kansas. She departed this live of 90 years, 4 months, and 16 days, on February 23, 2011, at the Golden Living Center in Downs, Kansas.

Loretta was one of fourteen children. She attended school at Tipton thought the eighth grade and one year of high school.

O February 21, 1944, she was united in marriage to Edward Wagner at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Tipton. Five children: Marvin, Lucille, Darrell, Janet, and Roger, were born to this happy union. Ed and Loretta lived on a farm near Tipton until 1959, and then moved to a farm southwest of Mankato. After Ed’s passing, Loretta continued to live on the farm. She moved to the Golden Living Center in Downs in 2006.

Loretta’s life was always busy. She milked cows, took care of the chickens and delivered eggs. She had various cleaning jobs and enjoyed wallpapering. Spending time with her children and grandchildren was always a joy.

Loretta was a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Mankato and she was very active in the Ladies Guild.

Her parents preceded her in death. In addition, she was preceded in death by her husband Ed; brothers – Frank, Nick, Leo, Pete, Joe, Tony, William, and Bennie Reinert; sisters – Marie Reinert, Bertha Adams, and Lucille Reinert; and one grandchild.

Loretta is survived by her children – Marvin and wife, Pamela Wagner of Mankato, Kansas, Lucille and husband Robert Kohn of Mankato, Kansas, Darrell Wagner and special friend, Sandy Schoenberger of Mankato, Kansas, Janet and husband, Rex Letterman of Chanute, Kansas, and Roger Wagner and special friend Aly Kirkwood of Burlington, Kansas; two sisters – Agatha Corbett of Chapman, Kansas, and Veronica (Fronie) Slothower of Osborne, Kansas; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of many relatives and friends.

A celebration mass for Loretta M. Wagner will be (was) Monday, February 28, 2011, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Mankato, Kansas, with Father George Chalbhagam officiating. Lector was Dennis Reinert and Pamelia Wagner. Organist will be (was) Bonnie Benoit, hymn leaders were - Victor Schoenberger, John Flavin, and Michael Waite, with the postlude including Moriah Wagner on the vilon. Casket bearers were: Jason Wagner, Leon Wagner, Bradley Kohn, Michael Letterman, Alan Wagner, Luke Wagner, Joshua Wagner, Dillon Rines, Travis Letterman, and Jasson Wagner. Honorary Casket bearers were: Great-grandsons. Parish Vigil Service will be (was)at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 27, 2011, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Mankato, Kansas. Visitation will be (was) Saturday, February 26, 2011, from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Melby Mortuary, Mankato, Kansas. The family suggests memorials in Loretta’s name be given to St. Theresa's Catholic Church, Mankato, Kansas.
