Jaunita Maxine (Miller)Fullerton, 93, passed away January 2, 2011 at the Wilber Care Center in Wilber, Nebraska. She was born January 23, 1917 in Oakhill, Kansas to Jacob and Vista (Ellis) Miller. She was the youngest of four children. As a child she was given the nickname “Billy” by her father. Jaunita spent her childhood in and around Montrose, Kansas; attending Hillsdale School. In 1931, the family moved to Kirwin, Kansas. In the fall of 1933, they moved to Eureka, Arkansas where the family lived for 9 years before moving back to Montrose. Jaunita worked for a short time at the hospital in Belleville, Kansas. She moved to Montrose, Colorado and Yuma, Arizona, before moving back to Montrose, Kansas. Jaunita married James Fullerton on August 31, 1947 and acquired a readymade family consisting of two sons, Alfred and James Fullerton Jr. To this union, Jaunita gave birth to one daughter, Janis. The family moved to Enterprise, Kansas in the early 1970’s to help her sister care for their parents. In the mid 1980’s Jaunita moved to Nebraska to live in closer proximity to her family. She called Crete and Lincoln home for many years before moving to the Wilber Care Center at the age of 90. She was a member of the Northside Adventist Church in Lincoln, Nebraska for many years.

Jaunita is survived by her daughter, Janis (William) Howlett, of Crete, NE; and stepson James (Lesta) Fullerton of Raytown, MO. Grandsons: James (Suzanne) Bates of Wilber, NE; Billy Bates of Burbank, CA; Timothy (Linda) Bates of Wilber, NE; Dennis (Linda) Fullerton of Cary, IL. Granddaughters: Chelsea (Logan) Weideman of Saint Joseph, MO; Nancy (Kenneth) Karuhn of Woodridge, IL; Linda Fullerton of Waukegan, IL; Dorothy (Greg) McCoskey of Virginia Beach, VA; Cindy (Dennis) Whitson of Olathe, KS; and Cheri (James) Boyles of Fairfield, CA. Great-Grandchildren: Anthony Bates and fiancée Katie Elder of Omaha, NE; Dillon, Jackson, Cooper and Mollie Bates of Wilber, NE; Griffin and Carson Bates of Wilber, NE; Thomas and Sarah Whitson of Olathe, KS; Kirsten and Nicholas Boyles of Fairfield, CA; Ken (Pam) Karuhn of Villa Park, IL; Keith (Jennifer) Karuhn of Henderson, NV; Kimberly (Josh) Aumick of Aurora, IL; Kristine (Philip) White of South Elgin, IL; Jared and Dustin Fullerton of Cary, IL; Peter and April McCoskey of Virginia Beach, VA; Sarah McCoskey of Vienna, VA; and Matt (Yolanda) McCoskey of CA. Great-Great-Grandchildren: Alex and Noah Karuhn of Villa Park, IL; Lillian, Hannah and Gabriella Aumick of Aurora, IL; and Madeline White of South Elgin, IL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Albert and his wife Edell Miller, sister Fern and her husband Delbert Brown, and stepson Alfred and his wife June Fullerton.

Funeral service will held at the Melby Funeral Home in Mankato, KS on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 10 a.m. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Internment at Wallace Cemetery in Jewell, KS following the service. Memorials to the family.
